Join us in building the future of autonomous mobility!
Why Hervanta?
Tampere Testbed Hervanta is a rare test area in the middle of a vibrant district, next door to the university campus and numerous technology companies. The growth- and development-oriented attitude of the City of Tampere provides the basis for versatile open innovation and business activities.
30,000
A district with 30,000 residents, 8,000 students and hundreds of companies, the vast majority of which are technology-driven.
Why autonomous transport?
Automated mobility makes cities more functional. Robot buses make fewer mistakes than humans, which increases safety. They also offer a last-mile solution for places where there is no other public transport. Call-based buses bring a new service culture to cities and reduce the carbon footprint.
Tampere Testbed – places for business
The Hervanta Open Ground street network enables the testing of urban transport with automated vehicles in a genuine urban environment. In the initial phase, the area includes the quadrangle formed by Insinöörinkatu, Teekkarinkatu, Ahvenisjärventie and Opiskelijankatu, but routes will be planned and expanded flexibly depending on the interest of the testers.
